RS Pro Unterminated IEC C14 Power Cord
From RS Pro a high quality and durable power cable assembly or power cord for connecting an appliance to a mains power supply. This power cord is terminated on one end with an IEC C14 type connector that connects to the appliance. The other end of this power lead is unterminated and can be wired to a mains plug when convenient. The power lead features an integrated strain relief that provides additional protection and support to the connector and prevents damage caused by excessive bending
What is a Power Cable Assembly?
Power cable assemblies are electrical cables that are pre-terminated with a plug or socket connector. Power cable assemblies can be terminated with connectors on both ends of the cable, or just one. Depending on the application, there are various types to suit a wide range of requirements.
What is an IEC C14 Connector?
This power cord is terminated with a fully moulded IEC C14 plug which is used to connect the cable to a mating IEC C13 connector in an appliance or as a socket extension. C13 and C14 connectors have 3 pins, a rated current of 10 A and a maximum temperature rating of 70°C, and are sometimes referred to as cold connectors. IEC connectors conform to IEC-60320 specifications laid down by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) to ensure the connector meets common global design standards
Features and Benefits
Flexible and durable H05VV-F harmonised cable with stranded wire cores and PVC insulation and sheath
Fully moulded IEC C14 plug for strength and durability
Integrated strain relief for connection support and protection
Unterminated for flexibility and convenience when installing appliances
What is This Cable Assembly Used With?
C14 power cords or IEC power leads are are for use with IEC Class I appliances and mainly used in computer equipment but can also be used in some domestic and commercial appliances. Typical applications include the following:
Personal Computers and hard drives
Test equipment
Power distribution devices
Server and network equipment
Instrumentation amplifiers
IT equipment
Approvals
ENEC
IEC and International Leads
A range of electrical appliance connecting leads, the majority of which are terminated with connectors that conform to IEC 60320. The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is the international standards and conformity assessment body. The drawing illustrates the range of connector types offered within this section - The 'odd' 'C' numbers refer to a socket type connector - mains input - and the 'even' 'C' numbers refer to a plug type connector - the appliance inlet.
