How does a Type C USB Cable Work?
A Type C USB cable allows digital data to be transferred between the latest USB C handheld and portable devices and for supplying power to devices that need it. The cable consists of four wires that are used separately for transferring power and data. One Type C plug is inserted into the USB port on your mobile host device eg a laptop and the other USB connector into the USB port on your peripheral eg smartphone. It doesnt matter which way round the cable is used as internal circuitry calculates the orientation and routes power and data in the same way. Once connected the data or power is transferred automatically without the need for any additional interfaces or software. This is referred to as Plug and Play.
